Buldan has been known for weaving for centuries; a sign at the entrance to town recalls the kaftan said to have been woven here for Sultan Bayezid I’s wedding. Production today continues largely through independent artisans, who make the thin handwoven Buldan cloth, striped alaca, peştemal wraps, curtains and other textiles. Pomegranates, figs, grapes and blackberries grow on the hillsides, and the Roman city of Tripolis lies in Yenicekent.
