Çeltik sits at the far north-western edge of Konya Province, bordering Eskişehir, Ankara and Afyonkarahisar. Its name means “paddy rice”, a reminder of the rice once grown in local wetlands. Today the district lives from farming and livestock: wheat comes first, alongside sugar beet, sunflower, canola and maize, while sheep and goats graze the pastures. Many families have relatives in big Turkish cities and abroad, and a summer festival brings them home each year.
