Develi, once called Everek, lies on the southern side of Mount Erciyes. Together with Yeşilhisar and Yahyalı it shares the Sultan Marshes around Lake Yay, a Ramsar wetland since 1994 and a national park since 2006, with views of Erciyes. The town also has attractive old houses and the Fatih Mosque of Lower Everek, a former Armenian church.
