Website security is the set of measures that protects a site’s code, server, data and visitors from unauthorised access, data leaks, defacement and downtime. Its most visible part is the web application firewall (WAF), which inspects HTTP and HTTPS requests before they reach the application and filters SQL injection, cross-site scripting, malicious bots and automated attacks. At Racurity we treat the WAF as one layer of a system that also includes secure code, correct server configuration, monitoring and response.

Why custom code helps
Websites built by Racoun run on our own custom platform rather than ready-made themes and plugin stacks. Many compromised sites are breached through abandoned plugins; a smaller attack surface and centrally patched components reduce that risk. We still combine code review, WAF and regular testing, and we can protect sites built on other systems too.

Frequently asked questions
Will a WAF slow down my website?
Not when configured correctly. Cloud WAFs often work alongside caching and content delivery, and we measure speed before and after deployment.
Do I still need a penetration test if I have a WAF?
Yes. A WAF filters known attack patterns, but it does not fix business logic flaws or access control errors. Testing finds them; the WAF adds protection until they are fixed.
