GEO results do not appear overnight. Technical setup, including the visibility audit, AI crawler rules in robots.txt, schema markup, llms.txt and brand entity data, typically takes one to two weeks. After that, AI systems usually need four to twelve weeks to re-crawl updated pages and reflect them in answers.
- Faster: strong existing SEO, frequent crawling, niche questions, consistent brand data.
- Slower: technical SEO problems, blocked search crawlers, highly competitive category questions, conflicting information across sources.
- Platform differences: Google AI Overviews rely on Google’s index, Copilot on Bing, ChatGPT search on OAI-SearchBot; answers based only on training data change with new model versions.
Progress should be read as a trend: run the same question set every month and track mentions, accuracy and citations. AI answers vary by person and time, so no fixed date or position can be promised.
