To appear in ChatGPT search, your site must first be reachable by OAI-SearchBot, OpenAI’s search crawler. Check robots.txt, firewall and CDN settings so the bot is not blocked, and make sure key content is delivered as server-side HTML rather than hidden in scripts, images or PDFs.
From there, visibility depends on whether your pages offer the clearest answer available:
- Dedicate one page to each important customer question and answer it in the opening sentence.
- Add Organization, Service, FAQPage and Breadcrumb structured data.
- Keep sitemaps current and stay well indexed in major search engines, since ChatGPT search also relies on third-party providers.
- Earn consistent mentions on independent sites such as industry publications and genuine review platforms.
- Track referral traffic from chatgpt.com in analytics, keeping in mind that some visits appear as direct traffic.
Avoid hidden text and prompt injection: they break platform rules and can permanently damage trust. There is no guaranteed placement; technical setup usually takes 1–2 weeks and results typically appear over 4–12 weeks.
