How to Choose Photos for a Website

Website photos should match your brand identity, show real products, people and places, support the page message, come with clear usage rights and be optimised in size and format for the web.

Photos shape first impressions, trust and perceived quality before visitors read a single word. Choosing them well means starting from the purpose of each page.

  • Define a consistent visual style that matches your corporate identity.
  • Prefer real photos of your team, workplace, products and completed work.
  • Use stock images sparingly and avoid overused clichés.
  • Check licences and get written consent from people who can be identified (KVKK).
  • Crop for both desktop and mobile without losing the focal point.
  • Resize, compress and use modern formats such as WebP or AVIF; add descriptive file names and alt text.

Common mistakes include inconsistent styles, blurry phone shots, unlicensed images, text baked into images and oversized files that slow the site. Racoun plans visual language together with branding and can handle product, team and location shoots in-house.
