Publishing a website involves a few clear steps:
- register or verify your domain,
- prepare hosting, a VPS or cloud server,
- point DNS records (A record or nameservers) to the server without breaking email (MX) records,
- upload files and the database,
- install SSL and redirect http to https,
- test the live site on all devices,
- activate 301 redirects from any old site,
- open the site to search engines and submit the sitemap in Search Console,
- verify analytics and monitor the first days.
DNS changes spread gradually, so some users may see the old site for a while. Common mistakes include leaving the staging no-index setting on, skipping redirects and not testing forms.
