How to set up Google Ads: account, billing and conversion tracking

Setting up Google Ads involves creating an account with a business-owned Google login, entering billing and verification details, adding the Google tag, defining conversions, linking Analytics and other tools and organising user access.

To set up Google Ads, create the account with a business-owned Google login, choose the correct time zone and currency, complete billing and, if requested, advertiser verification. Then add the Google tag to your site, define conversions such as form submissions, calls and purchases, link Google Analytics 4 and Search Console, set up cookie consent and organise team and agency access by permission level.

  • Why it matters: currency and time zone may be impossible to change later, personal-email ownership risks losing access and faulty conversion tracking misleads smart bidding.
  • Key steps: business account, expert-mode setup, billing, verification, Google tag or Tag Manager, conversions, GA4, Search Console, Merchant Center for e-commerce, consent mode, access levels and testing.
  • Privacy: KVKK-compliant notices and a cookie consent tool are needed; confirm legal requirements with counsel.

Racoun sets up Google Ads so ownership stays with the client, and installs and tests tags, conversions, GA4 and consent alongside its web team.
