Virtual POS commission is not a single fixed rate. It is shaped by several factors:
- Provider type: a direct bank agreement or a licensed payment institution.
- Sector and risk profile: categories with higher dispute or fraud risk may face higher rates and holds.
- Volume and basket size: higher volume improves negotiating power; per-transaction fees matter for small baskets.
- Instalments: commission increases with the number of instalments.
- Card type and origin: credit, debit, commercial and foreign cards may be priced differently.
- Settlement time: faster settlement usually costs more.
- Extra fees: setup, periodic, refund, chargeback and add-on module fees.
Compare offers by applying each one to your real sales mix rather than looking only at the headline rate. Lowering dispute rates, using 3D Secure and routing between multiple POS providers can reduce costs. Racoun’s e-commerce software supports multiple POS providers, instalment tables and payment reporting.
