Google AI Overviews (called “AI Bakışı” in Turkish) is a Google Search feature that shows a short AI-generated summary with links to the source pages at the top of the results for some queries. It began rolling out in Turkey on 18 February 2026 and runs on the Gemini 3 model family.
- How it works: Google decides whether a summary helps, selects relevant indexed pages using its normal ranking systems, writes a summary with Gemini and links to the sources.
- How it differs from AI Mode: AI Overviews is a one-off summary inside the normal results page; AI Mode is a separate conversational experience with follow-up questions, voice and image input and query fan-out.
- What it takes to appear: Google representatives say no special technique is needed; normal SEO is enough. Google does not use llms.txt, and Google-Extended does not affect AI Overviews.
- Realistic expectations: Answers vary by user, time and query, so nobody can guarantee a citation.
