Which Programming Language Is Used for Mobile Apps?

iOS apps are typically built with Swift and Android apps with Kotlin. Cross-platform options include Flutter (Dart), React Native (JavaScript/TypeScript), Kotlin Multiplatform and .NET MAUI (C#).

Native iOS apps are written in Swift (older projects use Objective-C), with SwiftUI or UIKit for the interface. Native Android apps are written in Kotlin (older projects use Java), with Jetpack Compose for modern interfaces.

  • Flutter (Dart): one codebase, consistent and smooth interfaces on iOS and Android.
  • React Native (JavaScript/TypeScript): one codebase using native UI components.
  • Kotlin Multiplatform: shared business logic with flexible native interfaces.
  • .NET MAUI (C#): for teams in the Microsoft ecosystem.

The backend can be built with Node.js, Python, Java or Kotlin, C#, Go or PHP, connected through REST or GraphQL APIs. Choose based on performance needs, device features, budget, long-term maintenance and team skills rather than popularity. Racoun selects native or cross-platform technology per project and also builds the backend, admin panel and integrations.
