Short answer: An Instagram ad usually fails to run for one of five reasons: it is still in review, it was rejected under ad policies, the payment method failed, the ad account or connected profile is restricted, or the ad is approved but targeting, budget and bid settings prevent it from winning delivery.
Start by reading the ad status in Ads Manager, then work through the layers:
- Check that campaign, ad set and ad are all switched on and the schedule is correct.
- Read account notifications for rejection or restriction reasons.
- Verify the payment method and any outstanding balance.
- Confirm the Instagram profile is connected to the business portfolio and ad account.
- Broaden narrow audiences and remove restrictive bid caps.
- Test the landing page on mobile and make sure it matches the ad.
Avoid duplicating rejected ads unchanged and constantly editing ads in review, since each edit restarts the review. Platform rules change often, so always check the current policies.
