A website usually fails to open for one of these reasons:
- the domain has expired,
- DNS records are wrong or were recently changed,
- the server or hosting service is down,
- the hosting account has been suspended,
- the SSL certificate is invalid or expired,
- a software update or code change caused an error,
- an attack or malware is affecting the site,
- or the problem is on the visitor’s side: connection, cache or local DNS.
First check whether the site fails only for you or for everyone. Then note the error message and code: DNS errors point to the domain, 403 to permissions, 404 to a missing page, 500 to software errors, 502/504 to gateway problems and 503 to maintenance or overload. Prevent issues with auto-renewal, uptime monitoring, off-server backups and staging tests. Racoun’s technology unit Pedante Bilişim manages hosting, domain, SSL and backups from one team.
