Savaştepe, a district of Balıkesir, has two registered local foods. Seferberlik çöreği from Sarıbeyler is a sesame-topped bread leavened with a tarhana and yoghurt starter and baked in wood-fired stone ovens; it is said to have been made for soldiers heading to the front. Savaştepe Mihaliç kelle cheese is a hard cheese ripened in brine.
Turning heritage into sales
Both products travel well: the bread keeps for a long time once dried or frozen, and the hard cheese can be vacuum packed. We suggest starting with a marketplace store, then moving to an owned online shop with marketplace integration once demand is steady. Our stores carry no monthly licence and typically take 5–10 weeks to build.
A simple logo, readable labels and correct use of the geographical indication emblem are often enough for small producers. Social media can draw on the district’s rich knowledge of wild edible plants and short videos of baking and cheese making. Shops serving students of the local vocational school mainly need accurate map listings.
How we work
Our only office is in Ataşehir, Istanbul. We work through video calls and our client panel and plan filming days in advance. The first meeting is free.
