How many years is a trademark protected?

In Turkey a registered trademark is protected for 10 years from the filing date and can be renewed for further 10-year periods, so protection can continue indefinitely if renewed and used.

In Turkey, a registered trademark is protected for 10 years from the filing date, not from the registration certificate date. Protection can be renewed for further 10-year periods with no limit on the number of renewals.

  • Renewal is requested within the period before expiry (currently the last six months), and a grace period with an additional fee is available after expiry.
  • Renewal can keep all or some of the registered classes but cannot add new ones.
  • A mark not genuinely used for five years without a valid reason may be revoked on request, so keep evidence of use.
  • Protection is territorial: Turkish registration covers Turkey only.
  • A significantly redesigned logo may need a new filing.

Confirm current periods and fees with TÜRKPATENT and a trademark attorney. Racoun supports long-term brand management and plans identity updates with existing registrations in mind.
