Web design is a service, so it is invoiced with a service invoice issued by the provider. If both parties are registered in the e-invoice system, an e-invoice is used; otherwise an e-archive invoice is common. Some freelancers work as self-employed professionals and issue a self-employment receipt instead.
- Base the invoice on the signed contract and quote.
- Enter the customer’s legal and tax details correctly.
- Describe the service clearly rather than writing a generic “service fee”.
- Separate design and development, domain, hosting, SSL, content and maintenance lines; this helps the buyer capitalise or expense each item correctly.
- Confirm the VAT rate and any withholding or exemption with an accountant.
- Plan invoices for milestone payments and issue them within the legal time limit.
Services for foreign clients may qualify as service exports. This is general information; rules change, so always confirm with your financial advisor. Racoun itemises every website quote and invoice.
