A distance sales contract is a sales agreement made between a seller and a consumer without meeting physically, through a website, app, phone or messaging. In Turkey it is governed by consumer protection legislation and the Distance Contracts Regulation.
It typically covers:
- Seller identity and contact details
- Main features of the product or service and the total price including taxes and extra costs
- Payment, delivery and performance details
- The right of withdrawal, how to use it and any exceptions
- Information on complaint and dispute channels
A pre-information form must be shown before the order, both texts must be accepted at checkout and a copy sent to the consumer by a durable medium such as email. As a rule the consumer can withdraw within 14 days of delivery without giving a reason, with certain exceptions. Common mistakes include copying another site’s text, not collecting consent at checkout and never updating the documents. This is general information, so confirm the current rules with a lawyer.
Racoun’s e-commerce stores fill these texts automatically with order details, collect consent at checkout and store the records.
