What ChatGPT Ads are
ChatGPT Ads are paid ad cards that OpenAI shows below a ChatGPT answer, visually separated from it and clearly labelled as an ad (“Reklam” in the Turkish interface). Advertisers create them in the self-serve Ads Manager, and ads are matched to the context of the conversation rather than to keywords.
The ad card
Each card shows the advertiser name, a brand icon, a headline of up to 50 characters, a description of up to 100 characters, a square image and a landing page link. As of November 2026, the format is text plus image; video is not supported. Placements exist on desktop web, iOS and Android.
Who sees them
- Adult users on the Free and Go plans.
- Not shown on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu plans.
- Not shown to accounts declared or predicted to be under 18, or in sensitive conversations such as mental health.
Principles
According to OpenAI, ads do not influence ChatGPT’s answers. Advertisers do not see chats, memory or personal details and receive only aggregated, de-identified performance data. Being mentioned inside answers is a matter of organic GEO work, not advertising. Check OpenAI’s current ad policies, as details change quickly.
